Nigeria, with its 130 million inhabitants, comprises of more than 250 ethnic groups speaking nearly 400 different dialects. English is its official language, widely used in all the large cities.

Broadly speaking, Nigeria’s territory can be split into a Y using the flow of its two large rivers, Niger and Benue. This division rhymes with the territorial distribution of the three major ethnic and linguistic groups:
